A new Guangdong Intercity rail link via Dongguanxi Station (东莞西) opened on July 27, further expanding the rail network across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The new link connects the Guangzhou-Huizhou and Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity railways, introducing two new express services: Pazhou-Shenzhen Airport (琶洲-深圳机场) and Zhaoqing-Shenzhen Airport (肇庆-深圳机场). Passengers can now travel from Guangzhou's Pazhou Station to Shenzhen Airport Station in about one hour without the need to transfer.

The services also give travelers from Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing and other cities direct rail access to Shenzhen Airport.

The fastest journey from Pazhou Station to Shenzhen Airport Station takes about 60 minutes, with a fare of 54 yuan. The trip from Zhaoqing Station to Shenzhen Airport Station takes approximately 139 minutes, with fares starting from 115 yuan.
