Guangzhou has launched a major reshuffle of its passenger rail services as part of the national summer railway schedule update effective July 1, with the newly built Guangzhou Baiyun Station emerging as a key hub for long-distance travel.

Thirty regular-speed trains that previously departed from Guangzhou Station have been relocated to Guangzhou Baiyun Station, with only three services (to Xuzhou and Yingtan) remaining.

Guangzhou Baiyun Station now handles 44 inter-provincial regular-speed trains, including popular routes to destinations such as Urumqi, Lhasa, and Harbin. The station also introduces 20 new intercity trains linking Guangzhou and Shenzhen (18 to Shenzhen, 2 to Futian), running from early morning to late evening. In addition, the station is stepping up its high-speed service, with 27 daily departures on the Beijing–Guangzhou high-speed rail line, connecting travelers to major inland cities such as Wuhan, Zhangjiajie, and Changsha South.

Meanwhile, under the new third-quarter railway timetable, Guangzhou East Station now handles a total of 214 passenger train services daily. Of these, an average of around 181 high-speed trains operate each day, while the remaining 11 regular-speed trains pass through the station without originating or terminating there. Additionally, there is a new G800 high-speed service that links Guangzhou East and Shanghai Hongqiao in just over seven hours.
