Cheers, Guangzhou! 17th Guangzhou Oktoberfest toasts to global friendship
Update: 2025-10-31     Source: South

The 17th Guangzhou Oktoberfest opened in spectacular fashion on October 30 at the China Hotel. Running through November 1, this annual celebration of Bavarian tradition has become one of Guangzhou's most anticipated cross-cultural events. This year, it coincides with the 138th Canton Fair, adding a splash of international color to the "Millennium Business City." The festival once again highlights Guangzhou's spirit of openness, diversity, and global hospitality.

This year's event recreates the lively long-table atmosphere of Munich's famous Oktoberfest. Guests gather in festive camaraderie, surrounded by Bavarian decorations and traditional service staff dressed in Dirndls and Lederhosen. Endless pours of authentic German beer flow alongside classic delicacies — crispy pork knuckles, pretzels, sausages, and more — carefully prepared by the hotel's culinary team, offering a full sensory journey into German gastronomy and culture.

The evening's highlight came from Sakrisch Guat, a live band from Bavaria, whose dynamic performance had the crowd cheering and dancing. While their repertoire featured classic Oktoberfest tunes, the musicians surprised the audience with creative renditions of Chinese pop songs — a playful East-meets-West harmony that captured the essence of cultural exchange and left guests with unforgettable memories.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Bai Shubo, General Manager of China Hotel, remarked, "As the 15th National Games this year will be held in the Greater Bay Area, we are proud to shape the Guangzhou Oktoberfest into a signature cultural event that showcases Guangzhou's vibrancy as an international consumption hub. We hope this celebration not only enriches the city's cultural landscape but also adds festive energy to the National Games.”

More than a festival, this is a fusion of cultures and friendship — a toast to connection and celebration. Whether guests come to experience German traditions, share laughter with friends, or entertain business partners, the Guangzhou Oktoberfest promises a night to remember.
