2025 Guangzhou Film Expo concludes with over 6.6 billion yuan in intended transactions
Update: 2025-12-25     Source: South

Marking the 130th anniversary of the birth of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, the 2025 Guangzhou Film Expo (GZFE) was held from December 19 to 21.

The event gathered representatives from domestic and overseas film and television investment institutions and production companies, forging a bridge between Chinese cinema and the global market.

Statistics show that the expo attracted over 500 distinguished guests, 203 participating organizations, 2,809 professional visitors (buyer groups), and more than 120,000 general attendees. During the event, a total of 153 contracts were signed, with the intended transaction volume reaching 6.683 billion yuan.

Starting from December 22, the GZFE online exhibition platform will remain open to industry insiders and the public, providing online services and resource-matching opportunities.

The promoted works cover a variety of genres, including drama, suspense, and animation, demonstrating the diverse creative landscape of Guangzhou's film industry.

In May 2025, Guangdong Province issued a high-powered "policy package" to boost the high-quality development of the cultural industry.

In the film and television sector, the "15 Policies of Guangdong on Film and Television" include initiatives such as constructing a film and television industry belt around the Pearl River Estuary, establishing a creative theme database, and deepening film and television cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Covering the entire industrial chain of film and television creation, shooting, production, distribution, screening, and derivative development, these supportive policies have energized the market through substantial financial incentives, attracting a host of leading national film and television enterprises and numerous high-quality projects to the region.

A number of key film projects with international perspectives and cultural characteristics were signed at the 2025 GZFE. Among them, "Autumn Flowers," a China-Iran co-production, focuses on cultural integration from an international perspective, while "Horse Power," the world's first zodiac-themed documentary, explores the profound connotations of traditional Chinese culture.
