If you're wondering how to celebrate the Lantern Festival in Guangzhou this week, Beijing Road might be a good place to go as the 2026 Yuexiu Temple Fair opened on March 3 and will run through March 9. The week-long event has transformed the historic pedestrian street into a lively corridor of performances, market stalls and local food.
Throughout the week, the Beijing Road area is hosting a rolling program of Cantonese pop performances, open-air film screenings, and Cantonese opera showcases. At night, a horse-themed light installation will illuminate Zhongyou Square, creating a great spot for evening strolls and photos.

A major highlight this year is the market stretching along Beijing Road, featuring nearly 100 stalls. The fair blends heritage and contemporary design, with traditional crafts such as Guangcai (Cantonese porcelain) and Guangxiu (Cantonese embroidery) presented alongside creative cultural products and trendy toys.

Food remains central to the experience. Established Cantonese brands, including Guangzhou Restaurant and Tao Tao Ju Restaurant, are serving classic dim sum and local specialties, joined by offerings from Grand Hyatt. Together, they will showcase the flavors that have long defined the city's culinary reputation.
With large crowds expected, particularly in the evenings, using public transportation and planning ahead is advised.
