September flower viewing guide for Guangzhou
Update: 2026-09-10     Source: Life of Guangzhou

A new flower-viewing guide for September has been released by Guangzhou Municipal Forestry and Landscaping Bureau, covering all 11 districts across the city. From cascading bougainvillea to red maple, the guide features the best seasonal blooms and recommended parks for visitors and residents alike. Here are some highlights.

【Siam Tulip】Recommended spot: Yunluo Botanical Garden (云萝植物园)

Yunluo Botanical Garden presents a siam tulip exhibition, with the flower planted both inside and outside the Orchid Pavilion. Ten varieties and about 1,500 plants turn the slopes into a brilliant sea of colour — step into the display, and you'll find picture-perfect shots at every turn.

【Bougainvillea】Recommended spots: Luhu Park (麓湖公园), Yuexiu Park (越秀公园), and Maling Flower Botanical Garden (花都马岭观花植物园)

Native to South America, bougainvillea adapts easily to Guangzhou's climate and is popular for its vibrant hues. With a little sun and rain, it bursts into colourful blooms quickly, commonly seen on footbridges, paths, balconies, and trellises. Its vibrant flower cascades can be enjoyed all year round.

【Red Maple】Recommended spot: Maofeng Mountain Forest Park (帽峰山森林公园)

The red maples at Maofeng Mountain are at their most beautiful in May and October. The leaves start to turn red around late September, offering an early autumn scene well worth a visit.

【Rain Lily】Recommended spots: Huadiwan Park (花地湾公园) and Dongshan Lake Park (东山湖公园)

Rain lilies actually bloom more profusely after heavy rain. At Huadiwan Park, they line both sides of the walkways, and at their peak they resemble a vast sea of stars.

【Cockscomb】Recommended spots: Hongcheng Park (宏城公园) and Haixinsha Asian Games Park (海心沙亚运公园)

The cockscomb displays at Hongcheng Park continue to draw attention, while Haixinsha Asian Games Park features bright yellow cockscomb and red cockscomb, which are perfect for photos.
