Guangzhou has opened its doors to one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of Alphonse Mucha's work ever staged in  China. "Mucha Symphony: Dream in Golden Era", which runs until April 7, 2026, at the K11 Art Mall, brings together over 200 original works by the Czech artist.

The exhibition spans seven themed galleries, tracing Mucha's journey from his breakthrough Parisian posters to his later, large-scale historical paintings. A particular highlight is the "Slav Epic," a series of 20 monumental canvases depicting Slavic history, presented in an immersive light-and-shadow installation that allows visitors to appreciate the scale and detail of this national treasure.

Alongside the paintings, the exhibition employs digital technology, including interactive installations and multimedia guides, as well as lectures and handicraft workshops, to provide visitors with multiple ways to engage with Mucha's art.

Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) is celebrated as one of the leading figures of Europe's Art Nouveau movement. His work is instantly recognizable for its elegant curves, intricate floral patterns, and symbolic female figures. After returning to his native Moravia, Mucha devoted over a decade to the "Slav Epic," a bold narrative series that remains a landmark of Central European art. His influence can still be seen in contemporary design and fashion across the globe.
