Dunhuang grotto art arrives in Guangzhou for landmark exhibition

One of China's largest Dunhuang-themed exhibitions opened in Guangzhou on May 1, inviting visitors on an immersive journey into ancient Silk Road culture.

Held at the Guangzhou Museum of Art, the exhibition will run through October 31. Covering nearly 2,800 square meters, it is one of the museum's largest exhibitions in recent years.

Highlights include seven full-scale cave replicas, more than 150 artworks, interactive digital experiences and rare exhibits from the Dunhuang Academy. Visitors can also see murals, sculptures, manuscripts and artifacts linked to the famed Mogao Caves.

The exhibition also showcases the ancient "cut-gold" decorative technique, revived through modern technology, and offers extended evening hours for a special night-viewing experience.
